Welcome to Room 15

Welcome to Year 5 – Room 15 – 2015

The students from Room 15 will have Mrs Erica Zis as their classroom teacher for the majority of each day, with a focus of the Literacy (English Learning Area) and Numeracy (Mathematics Learning Area). Most afternoons, students will form split classes with the students from Year 4 (Mr Bolton) or Year 6 (Mrs Sublet), so Mrs Zis can continue to provide the whole school Physical Education program.

Classroom Expectations

In Year 5, we expect all students to try their hardest in all activities to show their understanding of a topic. We expect all students to attempt a task, even if they find it challenging. We believe every student is able to achieve their best with the right support and guidance. Modifications will be put in place for students with additional education support needs. A variety of learning styles are catered for across all subjects, within an active and hands on classroom setting.

About Me – Erica Zis

This is my fourth year at Heathridge Primary School. As well as teaching in Room 15 I am also the Physical Education specialist. I really enjoy the variety and challenge of this duel role. I am currently working towards completing a Level 3 Classroom Teacher qualification and complete many additional roles within the school community, such as being a School Board member and a Mathematics Curriculum leader.

On a personal note, I am an active, energetic and enthusiastic individual. I am married with two teenage children. I grew up on a farm in the country, but moved to Perth so my daughter could start high school. She is now in Year 11 and my son is in Year 9. I also have a cat named Penny. I gave up netball last year after one too many soft tissue injuries and started Pilates – which I love! Recently I joined a yoga studio and I haven’t fallen over (yet) but when I do, I will laugh and get back up!
