Welcome to Heathridge Primary School

Our school motto is 'Fly High, See Far'

Heathridge Primary School opened in 1980. We became an Independent Public School in 2015.  In 2018 we entered our next three-year phase as an Independent Public School and in collaboration with staff and the School Board we developed our new Business Plan 2018-2020. We are currently taking enrolments for Kindy and Pre-Primary for 2019 and are willing to take out of area enrolments!

Our school vision:

At Heathridge Primary School we provide a quality, inclusive learning environment in which all students are inspired to become respectful and confident citizens with a sense of belonging.

Heathridge Primary School is a distinctive school offering a diverse, inclusive and exciting range of learning programs. Our focus on literacy and numeracy is strong. Our students experience success due to high quality teaching and learning using whole-school approaches and evidence-based practice.

In 2018, we commenced the Specialised Learning Program (SLP) for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  The SLP is a withdrawal program for up to 25 students with Autism who do not have the competencies at the point of enrolment to participate successfully full-time in mainstream classrooms. As part of this program, we are meeting the individual needs of students with ASD via programs to assist the students to achieve positive academic, behavioural, social and emotional outcomes to enhance the skills required to transition to full-time mainstream enrolment. As part of the SLP, we have three homerooms that that are coordinated by the Program Coordinator and staffed by specialist teachers and education assistants.

In 2018, we offered specialist subjects in Physical Education, Visual Arts, History and Social Sciences (HASS) and Languages. In 2018, we introduced French into our learning program for students in Years 3 to 6. In 2019, we will continue with these specialist areas but HASS will be replaced with Science as a specialist subject and Visual Arts with Performing Arts. We provide our students with the skill and capabilities needed to compete in an ever changing world, with students having regular access to iPads and computers in our computer lab. We have community volunteers and parents that form part of our R-Team Program designed to support students with their reading fluency and comprehension. The annual art exhibition is a highlight of our school calendar. Our students are also encouraged to participate in inter-school events.

We pride ourselves on our commitment to high performance and high care, and on our reputation for inclusivity, strong values, strong pastoral care and community engagement. Our P&C Association and School Board play important roles in our school. We encourage families to be an active part of our school through volunteering and our Father's Fridays program.

We offer a strong values program underpinned by the core values of integrity, responsibility, resilience, tolerance, good manners, kindness, perseverance, confidence, honesty, cooperation, respect and courage. We hold weekly values assemblies where students are awarded Values Certificates for demonstrating the current value that we are focusing on. Once students have received a set amount of certificates, they also earn values badges bronze, silver and gold.

Also on offer are Kidsmatter breakfasts. As of 2019 they will be known as our weCARE Breakfasts. All families and students are welcomed to join staff and our Year 5/6 student leaders for a community breakfast, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, twice a term. We also host Playful Learners, an out of school care and a three-year old program on site. Our school is part of the National Chaplaincy Program run through Youth Care, with a chaplain teaching students resilience and tolerance twice a week. We also offer before school clubs that are run by our dedicated teaching staff.

We encourage you to visit our school to see what we can offer your child.
